Blessed be x PaganVibesOnly x Merry meet everyone, So its that time of year again where you start setting your altars up for Imbolc or candlemas and plan your celebrations for the sabbat. Now I am off work the day before Imbolc so I will be celebrating the sabbat a day before but may of you will be stuck on what to do and where to even start. Now this post will give you some ideas for how to celebrate and also to encourage you to do a bit of research yourselves because not everything I will share will connect with you and same with others. Its all down to what you feel is right and how you wish to celebrate this sabbat after all. So a little information about the sabbat. Imbolc honours the goddesses as a bride in waiting for the return of the sun god. Before the Nordic influence, it was also the sabbat in which the Celts saw the sun as being reborn again for the following year. In Ireland it was, and still is today a special day to honour the goddess Brid in her guise of bride. Today most people know the day as St Bridget's day because the Christians took it over like they have done with many of out beloved sabbats. The day is spent dressing up grain dollies to represent the dried sheaves from the previous harvest, as brides for the sun god. Theses will then be places in their homes to honour the sun god and his new bride. They are normally placed in cradles called bride's beds and is normally made up of nuts, symbols of fertility and of course hay. This sabbat symbolises the end of the darkness and the start to the light coming back into the world. With the sun god returning to us means spring should follow soot soon and then the earth can be reborn with green and harvests for the following year. We normally light candles to honour the symbol of the wheel of the year and I personally have candles in full lit on my altar saying good bye to the darkness and hello to our beloved sun god himself. I know people who also carve a male on yellow candles to represent the sun gods rebirth into the world. Now I will give you a couple of ideas to how you can celebrate this happy sabbat but you also have to do your own research into it because connecting to the sabbat is such a great feeling and doing your own research into how to celebrate may connect you to it even more. I know it did for me. So first off like I said before a friend of mine craves a male on to a yellow candle to represent the sun god himself, You can also add a circle of white candles to your altar each one is to represent a goal you wish to achieve this year. Candles is a big part of the celebrations so if you wish to do any candle magic on this day do so. The energy is strong and you should use it while you can. You may do a couple things to banish or to say good bye to the winter seasons, you may want to brun paper snowflakes but only do this if you have a fire proof bowl. You can also do new life spells and blessings which a lot of people do in spring because it holds the power of rebirth but also you can do it now and honour the sun god while doing this. As always dress up your altar if your working its still a way to connect and honour the sabbat and the sun god and his bride. Use a lot of red and white colours, red for the sun god and the fire or heat he will bring and white for the end of the snow and the cold seasons. I will be using a blue altar cloth because that for me represents the cold seasons passing and I will use yellow tapper candles to represent the sun god and the heat that he brings. Also dress your altar how you see fit, if you connect the sabbat to flowers or statues add them its all down to how you connect with the sabbat to dont forget. I do hope I gave you some ideas on how to celebrate and also do your research. I am slowly planning my Imbolc celebrations while doing this post so I have a lot to work on myself but dont forget to have fun and celebrate with joy in your hearts. I hope you all have a fun filled celebration and I will see you all in the next post. Blessed be x PaganVibesOnly x Also don't forget to follow me on instagram @PaganVibesOnly, I will be posting my altar set ups on their and you can always pop me a message if you need more help. :) Merry meet everyone, So today I am going to be talking to you about ways to celebrate Yule this year. From how I personally have celebrated Yule and some good ideas and tips that may help you have a blessed Yule this year. So for me personally Yule is celebrated from the 21st til the national Christmas day. This is because I work retail and I am normally in work up until Christmas day. So instead of doing a whole day of celebrations I do it over a couple of evenings. The main Yule day I will light my Yule candle (One that I have blessed and carved with my wish for next year) and I would sit in front of my altar and write down on a sheet of paper my wishes for next year. I then will add it to my new wish chest that I got in the Freya's Cauldron box last month. I did have another one but it was too big for what I use it for so I have gifted that to a friend of mine. I then have my altar fully lit with candles for each night up til Christmas. Depending on the day I will add an offering bowl of seeds and herbs, A glass of wine or water (if I have wine in). I do have some bits I keep personal for myself depending on what I would like to manifest for the following year. I do spend time reading through my book of shadows where I keep the history of Yule and why we celebrate it because I love reading about it to be honest. Now to give you some ideas on how you could celebrate Yule this season: - You could empower mistletoe for healing and prosperity in your household. - Research the history behind yule and of st nick. I love reading about this so I hope you do too. - Make your own Yule log, I did this last year with a small log chunk and I had holes put it for the spell candles. I had ribbon and leaves decorating it and it was beautiful. It didn't survive my family on christmas day though. - Make puppets with your children to add to your family altar to represent the oak and holly kings and their journey. - You could bless your Christmas cards that you send to friends and family this season. They don't have to be Yule related to send them positive energy. - You could make a list of things you wish to let go, as Yule is a time of closure and where near beginnings happen. Think back on the past year and see whats been holding you back or causing you problems. Write them down on white paper and once you feel your ready to let go, burn the white paper in a cauldron to show the end of that story. You may do this for things you do not need as well. - Sit in front of your altar and meditate or prayer. You may pray for anything you wish but this is another great way to connect yourself to Yule this season. - Cook a feast. This is normally what I do on Christmas day as my whole family comes to celebrate but you may do this on Yule as well and celebrate the end of the year and the beginning of anew. If you have any ideas on how to celebrate Yule this season let me know bellow in the comments and I will see you all next year. I wish you all a blessed Yule and a very Merry Christmas. Blessed be x MissDoomie x Merry meet everyone, Today's post is a little shorter than most because I wanted to share with you all my home made soothing love bath salts mix. Now I personally don't have a bath but a shower so if you wanted to use this get yourself a fabric bag that you can have over your shower head but it would let out all the goodness and the water through. Thats a great tip to use cleansing bath salts with a shower too. I make bath salts a lot for my brother because he is always needing some sort of relaxing way after the day of work he normally has. This one was an experiment of sorts because he wanted me to use lavender still because it helps relax his mussels ect, but he wanted something a little different. I had just brought some rose petals for another project that I had in the works but thought it was a great addition to this bath salt mix to help him relax and feel the love. I first used my mortar and pastel to grind the lavender down. I did this because the last couple of bath salts I have made my brother has just been mixtures and the herbs stay and cover the bath which drives my nan crazy as she has to clean the bath after my brother uses it. So I thought if I grind the herbs down it will still have the best effect but also will go down the drain without blocking ect. So far this method has worked really well and has gone down with a treat too. I then grind the rose petals. This doesn't really do much but it helps to break up the bigger petals and when I add both herbs together it will mix a little better. I then add both herbs and the salts into the mortar and pastel and mix them all together. This makes the scent of the herbs to mix with the salts and blends them perfectly for use straight away. The salts I use can change depending on what I have in my kit at the time. I use Epson salts, Himalayan salts and salt mixtures which I buy in bulk just because I make bath salt blends a lot for my brother. I hope you try this blend and it works wonders for you as it does for my brother. Please let me know in the comments bellow if you have tried this blend and I will see you all in the next post. Blessed be x MissDoomie Merry meet everyone, Today's post is going to be a little different to most. This post will be talking about how you can connect with the magical path for this month and how great the month of July can be. This post is a little late because of work I haven't had a chance to do this post but better now then never. July is when we start to see the hot weather, the beautiful blue skies and the love of summer. July has always been a month to direct your attention to personal growth and improvements. This may mean increasing your knowledge, starting a new project or even finishing off something you started months ago. Continuing the effects for prosperity, creating new ideas for the future months and also taking much needed time for yourself. July's full moon is known for as the blessing moon. This is a great time to connect with divination and dream-works. For a bit of moon divination magic, consider doing some full moon water scrying. This will help you connect with the full moon and also a great way to connect with scrying. This month is also a great month to start a dream journal, I have also started a new dream journal this month. Dreams can be prophetic, in that they may tell us of things yet to come or what we worry about most. Your brain is a beautiful and magical thing that tries to communicate with us through dreams. Best way to do a bit of dream journaling, is to keep a note book and pen next to your bed and when you wake up write down everything you remember of that dream. Key words, places, faces, colours, smells, feelings. Theses are all key to remembering your dream. These can all mean something towards the answers you seek. Herbs for this month: Honeysuckle, Acrimony, Lemon balm, Hyssop. Flowers for this month: Lotus, Water lily, Jasmine. Scents : Orris and Frankincense. Stones: Pearl, Moonstone, Whiet agate. Trees: Oak, Acacia ash. I hope you all have a great month and you use this month to the best of your time. I will see you all in the next post. Blessed be x MissDoomie x Merry meet everyone, Today I am doing the second half of the tips post. I thought it would be better to half the post so there wasn't so much to read and also I didn't want to overload you all with information ect. 6. ALTARS Now you don't have to have a altar but many do. I personally have built upon mine for the last couple of years now. If your a closet witch then you may only want a small altar in a box, if your more open then you may want to have a big altar that takes up half your room, or you may want it all over your home in sections. I always find that looking what others have done online gave me ideas for my own and then I just let my creative side take over. If you have seen my post about my altar then you know I have a lot of items on my altar. All you really need is candles and items that you connect with that you want on your altar. I always say candles is a must because for me it just makes it feel special. Get ideas from others and if you want to start your altar don't worry what others think or have. Collect items from nature to add to your altar you don't have to buy anything to have an altar you can build it out of anything if you wanted to. Make it your own space where you feel connected to. 7. BOOK OF SHADOWS Now I always found that having a book of shadows helped me with my learning. It can be a simple notebook where you jot information down or you can have a big leather book. You could have a online book of shadows or a digital one stored on a pen drive. Its up to you how you store your information that you collect on the journey you are on. I always say start small. I have so many different books of shadows its unreal. I think my first ever book of shadows was a slate book that my mother brought me for my birthday. It was special but a pain the the butt to write in. I think I got half way though the book before starting a new one haha. I would say go with the flow on your book of shadows, I wouldn't worry about how it looks or if its organised because I always find if your learning different aspects of magick then you can't do it in chapters and you will just stress yourself out and hate working in your book of shadows. Its meant to be fun and a create way to collect your information not a chore. 8. CONNECTING WITH OTHERS I found that connecting with others that are on similar paths has helped me a lot in the last couple of months. There are many blogs and youtube channels that you can connect with and get help with. I am part of a community on the amino app call the witches circle. I have met some really amazing people on this app and got some great advice. I love this app to bits and it was a way for me to connect with people that are on the same wave length as you. Some people would rather stay along but its up to you. I just personally thought it helped me a lot. 9. YOUR PATH Hopefully you will have some idea what path you are walking down, if you don't, don't worry about it. Some people know straight away and others are just still finding their path. What I would say is don't let other people control the way you learn and the path you take. No one is on the same path and everyone does things slightly different. Follow your heart and you can go anywhere you want on your path as its yours. 10. BEING SURE WHEN Now this is more about spell work. Don't rush into spells. Do it when your ready. Don't let anyone push you into something your not ready to do and always make sure you understand what your doing before your going to do it. I have seen so many people rush into spell work and it has backfired on them. I don't want this to happen to you. Make sure you are ready personally because everyone is different and no one can tell you when its the right time to do it or not. I would also say don't worry if your first spell goes wrong or that nothing happens from it. Because you will need practice My first spell was a birthday spell. I did it on my 10th birthday and it was one that brought wisdom to you with each birthday. I am not sure it worked or not but it was fun to do with my mother. It was a great bonding session to be honest. Just be mindful when you do your first spell that sometimes things happen for a reason. I hope these tips have helped you a lot and if you have any questions or would like to add anything just comment bellow because I do love hearing from you all. I will see you all in the next post. Blessed be x MissDoomie x Merry meet everyone, So its been over a year since I did my post with the 5 tips for beginners and I have found that there were more questions than answers for that post. So I decided to do a new updated post about starting the path to witchcraft and other spiritual paths and religions. I have done this in 10 sections which is where the 10 tips comes from. I am hopefully covering most bases in this post but then again the more you learn the better you understand and by next year I may understand more or have learned better ways to start the path. 1. RESEARCH Now I have seen so many people jump straight into witchcraft and not fully know what they are doing and why. I have seen people believe that witchcraft is very much like charmed on TV which is not. You have to do your research into witchcraft to fully know what your doing and why. I always recommend you start with the history of witchcraft because so many people think they know everything about it and they don't. They may think its all fun and games and that magick happens with a flick of the wrist which it doesn't. With all things you want to start you have to do your research into that topic. With witchcraft there are many aspects of witchcraft and topics you could start with but as a beginner you feel like your drowning, with no where to start. Cover the basic topics when you do start your research. For me the basics are visualising your intent, the history of the craft, tools and where magick comes from. There are so many different topics you can cover but start with one and focus on that until you are lead to another lead of information. Your path always starts with one step at a time and I have seen so many beginners leaping ahead with not fully acknowledging what they are learning. Slow down and take your time this isn't a race and there is no winners. 2. UNDERSTANDING & CONNECTION Now I covered this slightly in the first section but I am going into more detail here. You need to understand what your doing before you do your first spell or ritual. You need to understand where magick comes from and how to connect with it on a fundamental level. You need to first learn how to connect with the energies around you and how to visualise your intent to create your ball of intention that you put out when you do your spell. You need to learn the basic connection between your intention and the energy of mother earth that helps create the magick you put out. Like I stated before its not like in the films or TV shows you have to work on your intention that you are putting out into the world. For example you are doing a simple protection spell but your mind is thinking about an argument you had with someone else that same day and your not focusing on the focus of protection. Do you think your spell will work? The answer is not likely. You need to have a clear head and be able to focus your intention while doing your craft if you want to succeed in the spell you have put all this effect in doing. Now this comes easy for me now as I have been doing this since I was a child but I understand that it doesn't come straight away for some people. You need to practise and visualise your intention before you can do basic spells. There are so many different YouTube videos and books out there that can help you connect and visualise more focused which I still watch to this day. 3. WITCHCRAFT VS RELIGION Now many beginners believe that you have to be wiccan or pagan to practise witchcraft. This is not true. I am a pagan by choice, I grew up as one and thats all I know or connected with. I was a pagan before I started witchcraft and I always thought that was just a stepping stone for myself. I have seen that many witchcraft books out there are mostly wiccan based. You can be a Christian and practise witchcraft if you wish I know many Christians witch's that are happy who they are and have found peace doing what they do best. I know many elitists that think you have to be a wiccan to be a witch or you have to be pagan to be a witch. This isn't true and I find they are normally ass-holes that think they are better than you just because they think and believe they know all. Firstly you can not know everything about witchcraft. There is so many aspects of magick out there and so many new aspects being found and learned that no one can fully understand all aspects of magick unless you have been studying it since you were a child and your know 90ish and even then I dont think you can fully say you know all. I personally love being a pagan witch because I connect to this energy that calls to me. I found myself and it bettered my understanding of the world. This will be different for everyone but at least your not alone in the learning. I have been a pagan since I was 8 years old. I have been a witch since I was in high school. I was probably a witch before than but I never classed myself as one until then. So I have been doing this for 16 years and I can say I am still learning and I am still finding new aspects that I never really covered. Don't worry about what others think and just be yourself and just connect to the path in your own way. 4. BASICS Now for me basics is elemental and candle magic. Its what I started on and I found that candle magic worked really well in helping me go to other types of magic. You will always use candles within your craft is just one of those simple but effective ways to create your magick and learning the basics early will always help you in the future. I always have a look at what others class the colour correspondences as that is a great baseline but if you hold a colour candle in your hand and you connect a different emotion or purpose to that colour use your way. At the end of the day candles is a way to focus your intention of your spell no one is right or wrong on this front. Its how you connect with the tools you use. Another way to start is the elements, now most people connect with one or two more than the others. I personally connect with earth and water more than the other elements. That doesn't mean I dont use these elements in my craft or connect to them every now and then but for me personally I can feel connected to the magick of the earth when I am surrounded with nature or even when I am in the shower and there is water washing over me I feel the energy and the boost it gives me. My task for you on this is stop and listen. When your having a bath sit there and connect with the element, when your lighting a candle look at the flame and see if it speaks to you. When your out and about outside stop and listen to the wind, smell the nature and let mother earth connect you with the beautiful energy of nature. Let the wind lift you up and connect to air when you breath. You are more than lightly already doing this without noticing it. 5. NATURES TOOLS Now with witchcraft you can create magick with anything if your intention is great enough. You can collect items from nature to dress your altar (which I will mention later on) or plants that you can use with your craft. Many herbs are used within witchcraft and they have their own energies that help focus your intentions. You can go for a walk and a bird could give your a feather that you can use to connect with air or even to cleanse your home. You could find anything in nature that you can use within the craft. I always thank mother earth if I find anything to use in my craft because after all its a gift from her to me. The weather is getting warmer so spend more time with nature and see what you can find to use with your craft without spending any money at all. See if mother earth gives you a gift of nature. I am going to leave this here and do the other 5 tips in another post so this post isn't so long. I also don't want to overload you with information or food for thought haha. I hope you found the first 5 tips helpful and I will post the second half of this post in the next couple of days. Thank you all for reading and I will see you all in the next post. Blessed be x MissDoomie x Merry meet everyone, So today's post is all about the water dragon blessing. I thought it would fit very well to the ending of the water element series. This will not be the very last because I will do more in the future but I had plans for future posts. "Great guardian of all that flows, I call on your wisdom and grace, Grant me the wildness of leaping streams, And the slow strength of wide rivers, Help me see deep into the mysteries hidden in water, And hold deeply within the treasures offered by this world, Swim gently in the ocean of my heart until the time comes, To life your head and unleash the waterfalls roar. I just love this blessing its just so beautiful to read. I hope you enjoyed the water element series and I will see you all in the next post. Blessed be x MissDoomie x Merry meet everyone, Today is only going to be a short post but a handy one if your wanting to know how to do water visions. You will need: - A bowl of water, - One candle (choose colour of candle depending on your intention) Light candle and set bowl in a place close to the candle. This is to catch or reflect the candle flame in the water. Once you can see this say: "Water shining, Water deep, Bring me answers, That I seek" Ask your questions and watch for the images to appear in the water. This may also work with images in your mind. I hope this helps you for future reference and I will see you all in the next post. Blessed be x MissDoomie |
