This months box is fabulous seriously though I really love what I got in this box its something different and something that goes along with my style of art. Now I am going to do this post a little different to how I did the other ones and I am even going to include the artist print and their information that I got in this months box as well. As I love the art work and I also think it would be good to show you what you get and all the items in the box where as in the other past boxes I always forgot about the print and I made a note to make sure I dont for future posts. <-- This is the print I got with this months art box. As you can see its amazing! No seriously though I really love this cute little drawing and this print goes along with this months scrawlrbox challenge but I will speak about that more at the end of this post. Featured Artist: Stina Jones. Stina Jones is an illustrator and graphic designer from Manchester, UK. Creating fun character artworks for a range of applications from small scale prints and digital graphics, through to large scale murals and installations. Stina's sketchbooks are filled with strange characters conjured from the make-believe worlds of her imagination, in a style that uses a combination of bold minimalist line work and grey-scale fills with the odd splash of colour. www.stinajones.co.uk The items that I got in the box this month is: - Three stylefile brush markers. (blue, grey, black). - Zig cartoonist mangaka 05 (black). - Mangaka flexible marker pen -fine (black). - Stabilo all surface pencil. (white) - Creatacolor monolith (black) - Canson bristol paper 250gsm. Now my favourite items from this months box are the brush markers and the creatacolour monolith. The brush markers are great to use and something new I haven't used before. They will come in handy when I do future pictures and when I was just testing and trying them out they did what I thought they would so there great and I love the monolith pencil because its like charcoal but graphite its great to draw with and will be added to my daily kit of art supplies because this pencil is just fab. Bellow is the image of my test drawing and also something small I did for the Scrawlrbox challenge for this month. This months challenge is #stranger_worlds. Now anyone that knows me knows I love the spectrum noir brand, from the colouring books to their markers and pencils. EVERYTHING! Their a great product with great colours and are cheaper than copics which I have tryed but didnt feel the need to buy them. Where as the spectrum noir or even the pro-markers just feel better in my hands and I prefer to use theses then the more expensive brands, where as my brother loves copics and would collect them all if he had the money to. Now I can happily say I own all the spectrum noir 24 packs and even some of the smaller packs. Now I dont own all the spectrum noir colours as thats my end goal but I really feel that the 24 packs are well worth the money and you get amazing colours to use and its cheaper than getting any other brands and more pens to play with!!!! Now all I have done with theses packs so far is note the colours down on my colour chart so I will have to do some testing with theses colours in the future or even the next couple of days depending on what I am doing but this is all about the two new 24 packs I found that have came out. Now I follow spectrum noir on twitter and didn't know they brought two new packs out until I was looking into the colouring pads they do on amazon. THE ALMIGHTY AMAZON.... lol. So me being me brought them and have been wowed at the colours just buy doing a little notch on my chart. THERE AMAZING! Now the first pack I will talk about will be the nature pack. This pack is a pack of 24 nature style alcohol markers that are amazing to blend. now ill add a image of amazon or google bellow of the look of this pack and I will speak abit about the colours also. As you can see on the pack you get some really nice colours. I love the nature colours because the items I create are mostly nature based so I do use a lot of browns and greens. my three top colours from this pack at the moment must be AB3, AG2 AND MB2. Theses colours just seems amazing to me. I think I may even just challenege myself to just use those three colours and see what I can create haha. OO new post idea... :D. The second pack I got is the vintage 24 pack. This pack is again a pack of 24 vintage style alcohol markers that are again amazing to blend. Now with this pack I love too many colours to just put my favourite three colours because there just soo cute. I even have ideas on what I will be using theses colours for in the future and what items I am planning on doing just to use theses colours. There amazing. Now I am soo happy spectrum noir brought new packs out but was surprising that I didnt hear about it sooner. What do you guys think about the two new packs? Will you be buying them? MissDoomie xx This months art box for the art and parcel art box isnt something I will use or know much about but I find it quite cool reading about the items and may be in the future actually create something so amazing with it that it will make me want to do this style of art more offen, but until that day comes I will just give you the short hand version of each item and my views of this box at the end.
The first item in this box was the abig metal blades with the RRP £2.00. Now these blades come in two sizes and are perfect for creating varying thickness of marks. The tool heads are sharp so here are a couple of tips they added for us to use. Always hold your lino at the bottom, not the top, just incase you slip. It shouldn't feel too much like hard work to carve your lines if it does you might be digging in too deep. The next item is the abig wooden handle with the RRP £2.00. This abig wooden handle is comfortable to hold when negotiating a tricky line in your design and works perfect with the blades I mentioned above. The next item is the essdee black ink with the RPP £2.50. This printing ink is a great high quality water based ink which makes it enjoyable to use and also easy to clean up. Juts pop a blob out onto your inking surface and run your roller through it until you hear that wonderful sticky tacky noise. That way you know the consistency is perfect for printing. The next item is the Fabriana unica printing paper at RPP £3.00. You need the perfect surface for your beautifuly created disgn and the fabriano unica printing paper is just that. This high queality paper is highly resistant and ideal for many different printing techniques. The next item is the abig lino printing roller at RPP £8.50. Now this roller is smooth and will be perfect for you the do your printing with. The next item was the essdee A5 lino sheet at RPP £3.00. This A5 lino sheet is a great size to get you started on the printing style. The last item in this box was the A5 acetate sheet at RPP 50p. Now this was added for me/us to try monoprinting. which is a transfer of sorts which I am sure I did something like that on my art course so I may have to look back into my old art books to see if I still have any prints I did. Now this is a great starter kit for printing but I have never really enjoyed the printing style of art so this box will most likely be used for when my bother does his printing on his art course but apart from that this is a great box and this is the only box that I havent actaully found anything to use within my own art style. Hope you enjoyed and Ill see you in the next post. MissDoomie x This months scrawlrbox comes with the challenge #cosmic landscape. I will get into that more at the end after all we all want to know whats in this months box.
Firstly this months theme seems to be pastels as theres a lot of pastel items to use and try out this month. What caught my eye first was of course the Rembrandt soft pastels, which I got four of. (black/ blue/ grey/ white). Theses seems really soft to use and seems that blending together would be so much fun to do. This is what I got my just testing them out on paper. I haven't done an image yet using this months items but when I get the time to do so you know ill put it on here. The second items that were in this months box were the Derwent pastel pencils which I got five of. ( black/ blue/ green-blue/ grey /white). I have used theses products before as I brought two pencils of this brand and style in the sale to try and test out. I don't have the colours that I got in this months box so thats a bonus and I really look forward to using them all together in the future. Now we all know you would get a derwent pastel pencil sharpener with this box after reading about the pencils you knew there would be a sharpener to follow. The last item is of course some testing paper. The brand for this month is fabriano tiziano pastel paper. Now I haven't tested this yet because I want to save it and use it for my image so I can't really comment about it at this time but will once I've used the item. Now this months challenge is #cosmiclandscape. So if you get this box this month or just want to try the challenge theres a whole thread for it on twitter which sometimes I take part in too. I hope to see you in the next post. MissDoomie xx |
