This months box was quite strange, its something I would never really think of to use for art but I like the idea behind it and Find it quite inspiring.
What I got inside this months box: - Staedtler triplus mobile office. - Koh-I-Noor highlighter pencils. - Stabilo Pointmax. - M lighter fluorescent pens (blue, pink, purple) - Silvine field sketch book. This months box is all about highlighters. How strange using highlighters for art. Quite funky in my view. This post is only short because I haven't had the chance to use or get my views on theses products but I will do another post in the future with my views. Until next time I will leave you with this months challenge ' workspace highlight' Missdoomie :)
This months box is fabulous seriously though I really love what I got in this box its something different and something that goes along with my style of art. Now I am going to do this post a little different to how I did the other ones and I am even going to include the artist print and their information that I got in this months box as well. As I love the art work and I also think it would be good to show you what you get and all the items in the box where as in the other past boxes I always forgot about the print and I made a note to make sure I dont for future posts. <-- This is the print I got with this months art box. As you can see its amazing! No seriously though I really love this cute little drawing and this print goes along with this months scrawlrbox challenge but I will speak about that more at the end of this post. Featured Artist: Stina Jones. Stina Jones is an illustrator and graphic designer from Manchester, UK. Creating fun character artworks for a range of applications from small scale prints and digital graphics, through to large scale murals and installations. Stina's sketchbooks are filled with strange characters conjured from the make-believe worlds of her imagination, in a style that uses a combination of bold minimalist line work and grey-scale fills with the odd splash of colour. www.stinajones.co.uk The items that I got in the box this month is: - Three stylefile brush markers. (blue, grey, black). - Zig cartoonist mangaka 05 (black). - Mangaka flexible marker pen -fine (black). - Stabilo all surface pencil. (white) - Creatacolor monolith (black) - Canson bristol paper 250gsm. Now my favourite items from this months box are the brush markers and the creatacolour monolith. The brush markers are great to use and something new I haven't used before. They will come in handy when I do future pictures and when I was just testing and trying them out they did what I thought they would so there great and I love the monolith pencil because its like charcoal but graphite its great to draw with and will be added to my daily kit of art supplies because this pencil is just fab. Bellow is the image of my test drawing and also something small I did for the Scrawlrbox challenge for this month. This months challenge is #stranger_worlds. This months art box for the art and parcel art box isnt something I will use or know much about but I find it quite cool reading about the items and may be in the future actually create something so amazing with it that it will make me want to do this style of art more offen, but until that day comes I will just give you the short hand version of each item and my views of this box at the end.
The first item in this box was the abig metal blades with the RRP £2.00. Now these blades come in two sizes and are perfect for creating varying thickness of marks. The tool heads are sharp so here are a couple of tips they added for us to use. Always hold your lino at the bottom, not the top, just incase you slip. It shouldn't feel too much like hard work to carve your lines if it does you might be digging in too deep. The next item is the abig wooden handle with the RRP £2.00. This abig wooden handle is comfortable to hold when negotiating a tricky line in your design and works perfect with the blades I mentioned above. The next item is the essdee black ink with the RPP £2.50. This printing ink is a great high quality water based ink which makes it enjoyable to use and also easy to clean up. Juts pop a blob out onto your inking surface and run your roller through it until you hear that wonderful sticky tacky noise. That way you know the consistency is perfect for printing. The next item is the Fabriana unica printing paper at RPP £3.00. You need the perfect surface for your beautifuly created disgn and the fabriano unica printing paper is just that. This high queality paper is highly resistant and ideal for many different printing techniques. The next item is the abig lino printing roller at RPP £8.50. Now this roller is smooth and will be perfect for you the do your printing with. The next item was the essdee A5 lino sheet at RPP £3.00. This A5 lino sheet is a great size to get you started on the printing style. The last item in this box was the A5 acetate sheet at RPP 50p. Now this was added for me/us to try monoprinting. which is a transfer of sorts which I am sure I did something like that on my art course so I may have to look back into my old art books to see if I still have any prints I did. Now this is a great starter kit for printing but I have never really enjoyed the printing style of art so this box will most likely be used for when my bother does his printing on his art course but apart from that this is a great box and this is the only box that I havent actaully found anything to use within my own art style. Hope you enjoyed and Ill see you in the next post. MissDoomie x This months scrawlrbox comes with the challenge #cosmic landscape. I will get into that more at the end after all we all want to know whats in this months box.
Firstly this months theme seems to be pastels as theres a lot of pastel items to use and try out this month. What caught my eye first was of course the Rembrandt soft pastels, which I got four of. (black/ blue/ grey/ white). Theses seems really soft to use and seems that blending together would be so much fun to do. This is what I got my just testing them out on paper. I haven't done an image yet using this months items but when I get the time to do so you know ill put it on here. The second items that were in this months box were the Derwent pastel pencils which I got five of. ( black/ blue/ green-blue/ grey /white). I have used theses products before as I brought two pencils of this brand and style in the sale to try and test out. I don't have the colours that I got in this months box so thats a bonus and I really look forward to using them all together in the future. Now we all know you would get a derwent pastel pencil sharpener with this box after reading about the pencils you knew there would be a sharpener to follow. The last item is of course some testing paper. The brand for this month is fabriano tiziano pastel paper. Now I haven't tested this yet because I want to save it and use it for my image so I can't really comment about it at this time but will once I've used the item. Now this months challenge is #cosmiclandscape. So if you get this box this month or just want to try the challenge theres a whole thread for it on twitter which sometimes I take part in too. I hope to see you in the next post. MissDoomie xx I woke up this morning with this months art box from art and parcel. It was a happy surprise as I wasn't expecting it. Then again I didn't think it was the 6th of February :'). Now I couldn't wait to use theses items in this months box so this time I actually have a picture I have done using theses items. Its more childish then professional but I wanted to use all the items and I am in one of those funny modes where all I want to do is doodle and colour in my colouring book. But anyway lets get back to today's post. Items in this months box: Art graf water-soluble graphite stick. Now I haven't had the honour of using this item before so this was the first time I got to use this art tool and oh my god. I love it so much. I am a big fan of black and white pictures and try to get the best items to produce theses images when I am in the mood to create them. I love multi media images the best which means this tool I got will work really well with future images. I also love the fact that you just have to add water to blend the harsh blacks into light greys, I love watercolours and the effect they produce so the fact this item creates the same sort of effect gives it a big thumbs up for me. White drawing ink. Now I own some drawing ink already but its all blacks and I just brought a silver one so getting a white ink to add to my collecting by winsor and newton has really made my day. Like I stated before I love my black and white drawings and this will be a great item to use within my images. Also I was looking into the winsor and newton inks as I have heard great things about them so now after trying this white ink I will hopefully be buying some more colours from this brand in the future. Soft grip size 4 shader brush. Now I own a lot of paint brushes already so I will probably use this one for the inks I have. What more can I say about this brush, its from the band royal langnickel and this brand I have used before they produce great brushes for great prices and I would recommend this brand to any artist. 3 pentel sign pens. Now I do love my pens I cant lie about that but theses do have great ink and I really like using them. I will probably use them more for fine lining or doodling but they are a great product to use. I got green, a brownish red and black. Paint on pad. Now I have never heard of this pad or brand before but I will be using theses in the future because I loved working on the paper, the natural colour background is great for my black and white images and just for ink projects in the future. Its a great pad to use and I am so happy with this item. Overall everything I got in this months art and parcel box was great. I havent found anything wrong with this box and I love the items in it. Great box great price and now I have new brands and items to add to my future art shopping list. Until next post :) Missdoomie
hey world :)
So today's post is going to be my first impressions of this months art and parcel art box which I get monthly. Now I've been getting this box now for 3 months (this is the third month). The last two months were just a taste of what I could get each month from being the first box was clay based items for moulding and the second box all about drawing. Now I am more into the drawing side of art but I can never say no to knew art items. Now back to this months art box. When I opened the box I was hoping for drawing supplies as I have been doing a lot of drawing and little doodles in my little black sketch book I have started this year. To my surprise what I got in this months box was to do with drawing. Now I haven't used theses items yet as it only came today but I will tell you all what I got inside my box just in case you want to get one yourself :P First I got 4 pitt pastel pencils from the brand faber castell. Now doing some digging and also with the information I got with the product, I found out that theses pencils are packed with high pigment and are oil free pastel lead. These are sure to make great bold lines and should be great for shading and hopefully will be a great tool in my art kit. Secondly I got a pack of wolff carbon pencils. Now I have never heard of theses so I am really looking forward to using theses and trying them out. Theses pencils combine the best parts of working with graphite and charcoal. Which I love using both so I will be doing a art piece in the future using theses. Thirdly I got a factis kneadable rubber which I can use all day long haha. Kneadable rubbers are used all the time while I am doing my art so this will be used once I have finished with the one I have. Fourth item was the uni signo um 120 white gel pen. Now I actaully have one of theses already in my kit so I know theses are great for highlighting areas in my art work and over all just a great pen to have within your kit. The fifth and sixth items I got in my box was a kahnemukle natural pad which I will be using for my ink drawings as I just love the paper and a tortilion which I use a lot with charcoal. Now I will be doing some doodles and such with theses items in the future. I will also be posting some of my art work in the next couple of posts hopefully so I will hopefully see you all in the next one :) |
